You’ve started working on your goal, you are completely committed to it, you work on it every day and then all of a sudden….. you stop. Maybe you got bored. Maybe you got distracted. Maybe you have doubts of why you started in the first place. Whatever the reason, you are not alone. This happens to everyone at one time or another. Just because you have not been fully committed to your goals lately does not mean you have failed, it just means you need to start again.

Here are 7 things that may help you recommit to your goals:

Remember Why You Set This Goal
Why was this goal important to you? What are the benefits of accomplishing or risks of not accomplishing this goal?

Every Day is a New Chance to Start Again
Remember that every day is a new beginning, a new chance to get it right. Just because you didn’t work toward your goal yesterday does not mean you should not work on it today. Make the commitment to wake up every morning and start (or continue) working toward your goals.

Success Typically Doesn’t Happen Overnight
Make sure your expectations are realistic and you can achieve what you plan to achieve in a reasonable amount of time.

Take Some Time Off
If you really need a break, set aside some down-time. Go outside and sit in the sun, read, go for a walk. Make sure you set a specific time when you will start again.

Write a Mission Statement and Fine Tune Your Plan
Write down what you want to accomplish, how you plan to accomplish it, how long it will take you to achieve this goal. Take this one step further by reviewing, revising and/or rewriting out the tasks you will do to accomplish your goal. Give each task an estimated end date to work toward.

Share Your Goals
Find a friend you can check in with from time to time to discuss your goals. This will make you feel more accountable. By having someone to report to, you are more likely to work consistently toward your goals.

Find a Role Model
Find someone who is already doing this successfully and follow their lead. You can read more about role models here.
